Curacao - West Punt & Christoffel Nat’l Park

Happy quarantine everybody from Trev n Ti. This is our next installment of our Discovering Curacao series (part 2), where we venture north to the West Punt a...

Northern Curacao was an adventure. The climate is a bit different in the Northern part of the island but the views are unbeatable.

I mean look at that.

After we departed the beautiful and posh Spaanse (Spanish) Water neighborhood, we stopped by Van de Tweel Market in Jan Thiel before heading on our 45 minute drive to Lagun Blou.

Arrival to the Lagun Blou Resort when considerably smoother than our previous destination.

Well Almost… see it turns out this place is victim to the countless screen free destination, fan free destinations that are scattered about disguised as luxury resorts lol. Additionally when we originally booked, it was just for us original 3, the website had mentioned that we were booking upgraded villas… Yeah that may have been so, but when we upgraded to the 3 bedroom villa to accomodate MR.WF and Elle. they didn’t tell us that we were going to be put into one of the last non-upgraded units… we did however have a lovely view of all of the upgraded units with real windows…

That aside, they had beautiful traditional colonial touches that were visually appealing (however sofa and furniture were a bit… stiff), 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a balcony, small kitchen, upstairs seating area and patio. The layout was spacious especially considering the backyard space. We however didn’t utilize that much as it was aggregated rock and always full of sunshine.

After our 1st mosquito infested night here, we were fairly grumpy. Especially since after little sleep; Mr.WF, Elle and Trev had to get up and hop on their flight to Bonaire. Ti and G stayed back and we’re bored to death, however that’s a whole different video and post.

However once they got back, packed with actual mosquito repellent and Ti being vigilant with spray every surface with Euculypus, Mosquito spray and mosquito incense in every room (because according to the resort, this is the Caribbean, and it’s just hot here with no modern or feasible way of dealing with mosquitoes because fans and glass windows are SILLY) , the rest of the fam got a good night sleep. We awaken having used a years worth of electricity to not only blow the mosquitoes away, but also make the rooms a bearable temperature, we lounge around the resort for a good portion of the beginning of the day.

After we have a chill and comfy morning, we head to visit the 4 beaches that are both FREE and withing 15 minutes of us. This includes Grote Knip, Kleine Knip, Playa Jeremi and Lagu Blou (the beach at our resort).

Overall Grote Knip was the most beautiful, crowded but beautiful. They like many “free” beaches charge to use umbrellas and loungers, a min of about $15 USD. Kleine Knip was photo worthy and did have concessions (food) available but considerably smaller and parking was… lacking.

Next on our stop was Playa Jeremi… by far the largest, it was the most empty, and had a notable starving/stray/abused dog vibe. Did get to see some sea life.

And finally we hit home base, Lagun Blou. What is nice about Lagun Blou is that there are about 3 resorts near it and 2 restaurants near by. So if you would like to do things, this is going to be more recommended. Smallest that we visited, however you could walk upstairs to the bar
